Indoor Workouts That Work

Work in your workout even when the weather doesn't cooperate.

  • Dive! Dive! Join a swimming or water aerobics program. It's a great way to get all of the benefits of an aerobic workout without damaging your joints. An added plus: in chest-high water you weigh only a third of what you weigh on land.

  • Head for the mall. Add an extra lap or two to your shopping trip, or sign up for a walking program, offered at many malls. Pick up presents while you burn extra calories.

  • Stay in one spot. Work out on a stationary bike or treadmill. You can read, watch TV or listen to music and shed pounds at the same time.
