The Miriam Hospital has had a Collegiate Nurse Intern (CNI) Program since the 1980s. The program was most recently evaluated and enhanced in 2009 to meet the current developmental needs of nursing students.
The CNI Program is designed to offer student nurses exposure to clinical experiences and the Miriam's nursing culture by giving them the opportunity to work directly with registered nurses. The intention is to provide nursing students with coaching and mentoring that will build confidence in tasks, skills, time management, priority setting and decision-making.
The CNI Program comprises two levels: CNI Level I and CNI Level II.
