Healthy Serving:
Turkey Apple Pie Bake
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
- 1 large granny smith apple, diced
- 1 can chick peas, drained
- 1/2 cup golden raisins
- 3 fresh mint leaves, diced
- fresh basil
- 1 jar chunky style salsa, (12-16 oz)
- 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup pine nuts, almonds or walnuts
- filo dough
Directions:
Saut turkey in large skillet until just slightly pink. Add apple,
salsa, and chick peas. Let simmer on low for approximately 5 minutes. Add
chopped mint, basil and raisins. Let stand for 30 minutes. Stir in cheese
and nuts. Cover the bottom of a pie pan or small casserole dish with two
sheets of filo dough. Place filling in pan. Cover with additional 3 layers
of filo dough; trim out side edges and tuck under. Bake at 350,
uncovered, until golden. Serves 6.
