Director of the OSCCC, Steven P. LaRosa, MD, is a member of the division of infectious diseases at Rhode Island Hospital and an assistant professor of medicine at Brown Medical School.

LaRosa was the lead clinical research physician for the successful phase III trial of recombinant human activated Protein C (Xigris TM), the first and only Food and Drug Administration-approved therapy that increases survival for adult patients with severe sepsis.

After accomplishing his undergraduate studies at Boston College and earning his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine, LaRosa completed his internal medicine residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and his infectious disease fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. LaRosa is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases.
