James Ziegler, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Florida. He then completed a residency in general pediatrics at the University of South Florida including a year as chief resident .
After a year in private pediatric practice in Melbourne, Florida, he completed a fellowship in pediatric and neonatal intensive care at Massachusetts General Hospital followed by fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at Denver Children's Hospital.
He joined the pediatric cardiology division at Hasbro Children's Hospital in 1995 and was director of the division from 2001 through 2010. He is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology and board-eligible in pediatric intensive care.
His clinical interests include all aspects of pediatric cardiology with special emphasis on preventive cardiology and exercise physiology. Research interests include exercise-limiting symptoms in normal children, exercise-induced bronchospasm, and exercise physiology in abnormal nutritional states including obesity and anorexia nervosa.
