Plastic
surgery specialists at Lifespan provide a full range of plastic

- acute hand trauma and reconstruction after injuries (industrial
and workers' compensation),

At Rhode Island Hospital alone, more than 3,000 OR cases
each year require plastic surgery expertise. The department includes
the Craniofacial/Maxillofacial Service,
for in-depth treatment of traumatic and congenital deformities
of the head and neck, a busy hand and microvascular
service, and research in the areas of tissue expansion and
breast reconstruction. The Brown University Residency in Plastic
and Reconstructive Surgery, based at Rhode Island Hospital, is the
oldest training program in New England.
