    We offer a nationally recognized advanced trauma life support course that is available to all incoming surgical and emergency medicine residents, emergency room and ICU physicians, and community surgeons. We also offer an EMS lecture series, nursing continuing education, injury prevention and community outreach programs to health care providers who treat trauma patients.

    We hold an annual trauma care conference every fall for nurses, physicians and other providers interested in the care of trauma patients.

    The Rhode Island Hospital division of trauma and surgical critical care is pleased to announce its sixth annual trauma care conference being held on October 16, 2014 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 801 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, RI.

    This year's conference, Trauma Care: It’s Complicated, will highlight the challenges of caring for traumatically injured patients with complex presentations and atypical scenarios. The conference features both national and regional trauma care experts and will once again conclude with a personal view of trauma during the popular Heroic Comebacks presentation.

    In addition to being a valuable educational activity, this conference serves as a forum for networking among many different regional trauma care providers. Participants will also have the opportunity to see many of the latest medications, devices and services that are available to assist in providing the best, state-of-the-art trauma care.

    Education Credits

    Physician Accreditation: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the essential areas and policies of the Rhode Island Medical Society through the joint sponsorship of Rhode Island Hospital and University Surgical Associates, Inc. Rhode Island Hospital is accredited by the Rhode Island Medical Society to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.

    Rhode Island Hospital designates this activity for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

    CEU's: This activity has been submitted to the Rhode Island State Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. The Rhode Island State Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

    EMT Education Hours: This program is being submitted for 5 hours of continuing education for EMS providers through Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services (MA OEMS). MA OEMS is the approver of continuing education for all Massachusetts Emergency Medical Services.

    Social Workers: This program is being submitted to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) for a total of 5.5 credit hours in accordance with the regulations of the board of registration of social workers.
