New In Town: Newport Hospital Brings Surgical Expertise to the Island

surgeons

Expanded surgical options are now available to the Newport community. A partnership with University Surgical Associates of Providence brings an expanded capability for minimally invasive and general and advanced surgery to Aquidneck Island.

Orest Zaklynsky, MD, a current and highly regarded Newport Hospital surgeon, helped coordinate the new partnership. He practices with new associate Thomas Rocco, MD.

“This is good news for patients in our community,” says hospital president and CEO Arthur Sampson of the venture. “The hospital is grateful to Dr. Zaklynsky and pleased to welcome Dr. Rocco and University Surgical Associates to the Newport medical community.”

Newport Hospital has also augmented their vascular surgical capabilities with the addition of Ibrahim Eid, MD, and Ageel Siddiqui, MD. Eid has extensive experience in minimally invasive and endovascular surgery and is board certified in internal medicine. Siddiqui comes to Newport from a research fellowship at Children’s Hospital, Boston.
