Statistics About Hodgkin Disease

Some people use statistics to try to figure out their chance of getting cancer or of being cured. Statistics show what happens with large groups of people. Because no two people are alike, statistics can’t be used to know or predict what will happen to you.

These are statistics about Hodgkin disease from the American Cancer Society for 2012:

• Approximately 9,060 Americans will be diagnosed with Hodgkin disease this year.

• Hodgkin disease can occur in adults and children. The risk is highest during adolescence and early adulthood.

• Treatment for Hodgkin disease is often very effective, with about 79 percent of people surviving at least 10 years after being diagnosed.

• About 1,190 people will die of Hodgkin disease this year.
