A breast biopsy will help you learn if you have cause for concern about a mass seen on mammography or if you have abnormal breast tissue. During this procedure, samples of breast tissue are removed with a special biopsy needle or during surgery. Then the cells are examined to see if they are normal cells or cancer cells.
