Patient Condition Reports
Your family and friends can receive an update on your condition
by calling the information desk at 401-793-5600. To maintain
confidentiality, no further information other than your condition
will be released. If you prefer that absolutely no information be
given out, please notify the admitting center at 401-793-2200. For

Communicating with Your Family
 To
ensure that your family is kept informed during your time
at The Miriam Hospital, we ask that you identify one primary contact person whom
we may contact during your stay. The name and phone number of
this individual will be placed on your chart in case of an emergency.
To ensure patient confidentiality, information will be given only
to the primary contact person. We also ask that this individual
relay information regarding your health status to other members
of your family and to your friends.
If you have any questions or are unable to identify someone to
serve as your contact person, please talk with your nurse.
Visiting Hours
Your family and friends are welcome to visit you during your
stay at The Miriam. Visiting hours are from noon to 8 p.m.
Immediate family members can visit the intensive
care/coronary care units 24 hours a day. We ask that
family members keep visits brief. Visitors should call the nursing
station from the waiting area before they enter the intensive
care/coronary care units.

 Gift
Shop
Located off the main lobby, the gift shop offers jewelry, sleepwear,
accessories, toys, magazines and stationery. Fresh flowers may
also be purchased in the gift shop. Operated entirely by volunteers,
all gift shop profits are donated to the hospital. Throughout
the years, the proceeds have been used to purchase new hospital
equipment and fund facility improvements.
The Gift Shop is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday,
and from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. You may contact
the gift shop by calling 401-793-2531 (internally dial
ext. 3-2531).

Ruth Markoff Coffee Bar
The Ruth Markoff Coffee Bar is located in the back of the Gift Shop and features
sandwiches, beverages and snacks. It is open from
7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from noon to 5 p.m.
on Saturday and Sunday. You may reach the coffee shop by calling
401-793-2532 (internally dial ext. 3-2532).

Marie J. Langlois Café
The Marie J. Langlois Café is located off the
main lobby and is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Hot meals are served during the following hours:
- Breakfast: 7 to 10:30 a.m.
- Lunch: 11:15 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Dinner: 4:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Locally prepared kosher food is available upon request.
During nighttime hours when the cafeteria and the
coffee shop are closed, vending machines are available
near the cafeteria.
