Nuclear Cardiology Laboratory

Nuclear imaging uses small, safe amounts of radioactive materials that enable pictures of the heart to be taken to diagnose heart-related diseases. Nuclear imaging is often used to diagnose coronary artery disease, which occurs when plaque builds up in the arteries that supply blood to the heart. Nuclear cardiology services at The Miriam also include myocardial perfusion stress testing, gated SPECT, attenuation correction and left ventricular function analysis.

The nuclear cardiology laboratory is one of the first in New England to earn accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories.
