The nuclear medicine department at The Miriam Hospital provides a complete package of nuclear cardiology and general nuclear medicine imaging.
The nuclear cardiology laboratory is one of the first in New England to earn accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL) for general nuclear medicine, myocardial perfusion imaging and RVG. |

General Nuclear Medicine - This section of nuclear medicine deals
with most parts of the body, excluding the heart. Some of the exams commonly
performed include bone scans, thyroid scans, liver scans, kidney scans
and lung scans.We also perform therapeutic general nuclear medicine, which includes thyroid therapies for hyperthyroidism and Samarium therapies for bone pain palliation.

Nuclear Cardiology - This
section of nuclear medicine deals with
the heart. Some exams commonly performed include stress testing
with myocardial perfusion imaging and cardiac blood pool scans (RVG).The results are read and evaluated by a qualified cardiologist or radiologist on the day of the test. |
