Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Program

The Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Program at The Miriam Hospital is a unique regional collaboration that offers patients the latest treatment and the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services. The program brings together leading medical experts at the Miriam Hospital and at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston. These physicians work collaboratively to provide a comprehensive array of medical services at both facilities for patients with heart failure.

The program is dedicated to comprehensive care for patients whose conditions range from asymptomatic ventricular dysfunction to those with severe functional impairment despite optimal medical treatment. For eligible patients whose prognosis is limited, the program offers evaluation for cardiac transplantation and mechanical ventricular assist. Our highly experienced cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons and nurses work with community-based cardiologists and primary care physicians to provide timely service and continuity of care. All diagnostic and therapeutic decisions are made in conjunction with the patient’s community-based physicians.
