Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Therapy Program and Outcome Evaluation

Therapy ProgramsTherapy Program

Initial evaluation is followed by 12 weeks of training, a post-test and a maintenance program. During the 12 weeks of training, participants gradually increase the intensity and duration of aerobic and strengthening exercises. Participants’ vital signs, their need for supplemental oxygen and their capacity for exercise on a variety of exercise modes (treadmill, bicycle, rower, arm ergometer, free weights, etc.) are monitored. Patients may also be provided with individual behavioral medicine interventions by our psychologist.

Outcome Evaluation

Each therapy program has been designed to produce measurable outcomes. Outcomes may include easier breathing, reduced anxiety and depression and improved exercise tolerance.
