Focus of new centers is to make care more convenient for patients
Lifespan, Rhode Island’s largest health care system, is making it easier for patients to access care with the opening of ambulatory care centers in East Greenwich and East Providence. Each Lifespan Ambulatory Care Center will house offices for the Cardiovascular Institute, a joint service of Rhode Island and The Miriam hospitals, as well as Lifespan Labs. Other services will open in both locations in the coming months.
“The opening of the Lifespan Ambulatory Care Centers is an exciting opportunity for us to expand our services and make them available where patients need them most – close to home,” said Timothy J. Babineau, MD, Lifespan president and chief executive officer. “The health care environment continues to evolve and we recognize that we must provide outpatient treatment in a way that is more convenient for our patients, which is outside the traditional hospital setting. The Lifespan Ambulatory Care Centers allow us to make that care convenient while insuring it is of the highest quality.”
The Ambulatory Care Center in East Providence is located at 950 Warren Avenue. The Cardiovascular Institute and Lifespan Labs offices opened in late January. An outpatient dialysis center will open in March and a wound care center will open over the summer.
In East Greenwich, the Ambulatory Care Center is located at 1454 South County Trail. The Cardiovascular Institute and Lifespan Labs offices will open in February, pediatric specialty clinics will open in mid-May, an infusion center for the Comprehensive Cancer Center will open over the summer, and an urgent care center will open during late summer.
Occupying the most significant space in both locations is the Cardiovascular Institute of Rhode Island and The Miriam Hospital. The Institute launched in 2012 and brought together two outstanding cardiac programs to deliver to patients the most technologically sophisticated and highest quality, patient-centered care. The Institute’s new offices in East Providence and East Greenwich will offer regular office visits, as well as comprehensive testing services. Those services include echocardiograms, stress testing, nuclear stress testing, Holter monitoring, as well as routine implantable device checks.
