Our adolescent weight management program called CHANGES (Creating Healthy Attitudes, Nutrition Goals and Exercise Strength) includes physicians, psychologists, surgeons, nutritionists and physical therapists. The whole team works together to help adolescents and families develop healthier lifestyles and gain control over their weight.

One of every three children and adolescents in the U.S. today is either overweight or obese. If you are an adolescent struggling with excess weight, you are not alone.

Many teenagers today find it hard to maintain a healthy weight. And many parents find it hard to help their teens develop healthy eating and exercise habits.

Hasbro Children's  Hospital can help teenagers suffering from the common problem of obesity. Our adolescent weight management program, called CHANGES (Creating Healthy Attitudes, Nutrition Goals and Exercise Strength), includes physicians, psychologists, surgeons, nutritionists, and physical therapists. The whole team works together to help adolescents and families develop healthier lifestyles and gain control over their weight.

Criteria

TheCHANGES program is for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18 who are struggling with excess weight. We also include family members or caregivers in the initial consultation, so that all members of the household are working together to promote a healthier lifestyle. 

Insurance coverage is typically available for the initial evaluation and for individual and family treatment meetings. The group-based treatment program is currently covered by United Health Care. Please call 401-793-8829 for more details.
