Suchit K. Aggarwal, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group. He also serves as chief of anesthesia at East Bay Surgery Center. He specializes in cardiovascular anesthesiology.

Dr. Aggarwal’s research interests include care of patients who have undergone cardiac or lung transplantations, and he has presented these topics at the national level. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology and the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists.

Scott E. Benzuly, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group. He is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. His work has been published in many scientific publications and he has presented locally for several years. Dr. Benzuly’s research interests include side effects of epidural morphine and post-operative nausea.

Deborah Cahill, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group. She has served as assistant professor of surgery in anesthesiology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University since 1997. She is a member of the Rhode Island Medical Society, the Society of Pediatric Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

Joseph Caiati, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group and a clinical assistant professor of surgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. His work has been published in several scientific journals, and he has presented at the local, regional and national levels.

Dr. Caiati’s research interests include aortic aneurism surgery and intraocular pressure during spine surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Rhode Island Society of Anesthesiologists.

Tzong-Heui H. Chen, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group and a clinical instructor of surgery and anesthesiology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. His work has been published in scientific journals and other academic media.

Dr. Chen’s research interests include medical valve replacement and strategies in blood conservation. He is treasurer of the Rhode Island Society of Anesthesiologists and a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists.

Alexander D. Cohen, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group. He was a clinical instructor during his residency at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he was also named chief resident.

Dr. Cohen’s work has been published in several scientific journals and he is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management.

Hugh P. Cowdin, Jr., MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group. He is a clinical assistant professor of surgery in anesthesiology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Dr. Cowdin’s research interests include airway management and patient-controlled analgesia. He served in the United States Navy for 23 years. He is a member of the Internal Anesthesia Research Society, the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Society of Regional Anesthesiologists.

Kristopher R. Davignon, MD, an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group, is associate chief and clinical site director of the department of anesthesiology at Rhode Island and The Miriam hospitals. He is also an assistant professor of anesthesia at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Dr. Davignon’s research interests include postdural puncture headaches and acute respiratory distress syndrome. His work has been published in scientific journals, reviews, chapters and editorials. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Rhode Island Society of Anesthesiologists.

Gildasio S. De Oliveira Jr., MD, MSCI, is the chief of the anesthesia department at Rhode Island and The Miriam hospitals. His work has been published in over 100 peer-reviewed journals and other academic publications.

Dr. De Oliveira’s research interests include postoperative pain care and pediatric anesthesia. He is a member of the International Anesthesia Research Society, the American Society of Anesthesiology, and the Society of Ambulatory Anesthesia.

Michelle B. Gorgone, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group. She obtained her medical degree from New York University and completed her residency and fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Rhode Island Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Medical Association.

Geoffrey Hayward MD, MPH, is a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist and the assistant program director for the Brown University anesthesia residency program. He is an assistant professor of anesthesiology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and has been heavily involved in resident education throughout his career. 

Dr. Hayward’s educational interests lie in teaching residents perioperative echocardiography, the pharmacology of cardiovascular anesthesia, and complex cardiac physiology. His research interests include periopative transesophageal echocardiography, patient safety, resident education techniques, and quality improvement initiatives.

Caroline Hunter, MD is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group. She completed her residency and fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. She specializes in cardiothoracic anesthesiology.

Dr. Hunter’s work has been published in academic journals and other media, and she has presented on the regional and national levels. She is a member of several professional societies, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Medical Association.

Maurice F. Joyce, MD, EdM, is an anesthesiologist and intensivist at Rhode Island and The Miriam hospitals. He is an assistant professor of surgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and he is the associate program director for the anesthesiology residency program. He was named chief resident at Tufts Medical Center and chief fellow for education at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Joyce’s research interests include critical care of geriatric patients, acute trauma and medical education. His work has been published in many peer-reviewed journals, books and book chapters. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Society for Education in Anesthesia, and the Society for the Advancement of Geriatric Anesthesia. 

Derek Keller, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group. He attended medical school at Boston University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, MA. 

Barbara L. Loferski, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group. She specializes in thoraco-vascular anesthesia and she is interested in researching obstetric anesthesia. Her work has been published in scientific journals and she has presented her studies at the local, regional and national levels.

She is a member of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesia, the Society of Regional Anesthesia and the American Medical Women’s Association.

Christopher J. Malgieri, MD, an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group, specializes in pediatric anesthesiology. Dr. Malgieri completed his medical residency as chief resident at Emory University in Atlanta. 

Dr. Malgieri recently published Current Opinions on Race, Religious and Gender Conflict in Healthcare, and he has presented his work at the local and regional levels. He is a member of the Society of Pediatric Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and is secretary of the Rhode Island Society of Anesthesiologists.

Mary Minn, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group. She completed her residency in anesthesiology and her fellowship in obstetrical anesthesia. Her research interests include the risk factors of stroke in geriatric patients and the pharmacokinetics of intrathecal fentanyl in labor.

Dominic V. Pisano, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group.  His work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals and abstracts, and he has presented on the regional and national levels.

Dr. Pisano’s research interests include auditory and neurosciences. He is a member of the association for Medical Professionals with Hearing Loss, the European Society for Intensive Care Medicine and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

Frances C. Regas, CPA, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group and a clinical assistant professor of anesthesiology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Her research interests include burn and scar treatment and endocrine therapies.

Zachary Robbins, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group who specializes in pediatric anesthesia. He completed his residency and fellowship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

Dr. Robbins has published work on airway implications during anesthesia in an infant with undiagnosed long-segment congenital tracheal stenosis, and chronic hypopituitarism after traumatic brain injury. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology.

Denis V. Snegovskikh, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group at Rhode Island Hospital. Prior to joining Lifespan, Dr. Snegovskikh served as assistant professor of anesthesiology at Yale Medical School.  He also served as director of high risk obstetric anesthesia, director of obstetric anesthesia fellowship as well as the associate section chief of obstetric anesthesia at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

His work has been published in several scientific journals, books and book chapters. He has also presented his studies at the regional, national and international levels. His research interests include pregnancy-related anesthesia and management of obstetric hemorrhages. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia.

Matthew J. Thran, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group and a clinical assistant professor of surgery and anesthesiology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Dr. Thran has served in the U.S. Navy as both a general medical officer and a staff anesthesiologist. His published works include the approach of anesthesiology versus internal medicine, and pediatric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and the utility of anesthesia care.

Gregory Towne, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group and an assistant professor of anesthesiology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Dr. Towne’s research interests include pain management and cardiac arrest. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Rhode Island Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Medical Association.

Andrew S. Treibwasser, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group and an assistant professor of surgery and anesthesia at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He specializes in pediatric anesthesia.

Dr. Treibwasser has presented locally on a variety of topics, including emergency airway management and postoperative nausea and pain. His work has been published in scientific journals and other academic media. He is a member of the International Anesthesia Research Society, the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Johnathan D. Uri, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group and a clinical assistant professor of anesthesiology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He serves as chair of the OR Management Committee at The Miriam Hospital.

Dr. Uri is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the International Anesthesia Research Society, and the Rhode Island Society of Anesthesiologists.

Christina G. Veloso, MD, is an anesthesiologist with Lifespan Physician Group. She earned her medical degree from Brown University and completed her residency in anesthesia at University Hospitals of Cleveland at Case Western Reserve University.
