Surgery to Repair Aneurysm of the Heart

An aneurysm is an area of muscle or artery that has become weakened and shows a bulging or ballooning effect. During surgery, the aneurysm is cut out or patched. Usually the result of damage to the heart sustained during a heart attack, a heart muscle aneurysm prevents the heart from pumping properly. This could cause shortness of breath, pain, or an irregular heartbeat.
