Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) for Skeletal Health and Repair

Imaging and Molecular Biology and Nanomedicine Core

Director:  Lei Wei, PhD

Associate Director: Qian Chen, PhD

The imaging and molecular biology and nanomedicine (IMBN) core facility provides instrument and expertise for translational research. It will continue to serve the needs of this Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) and other investigators in the community by updating research instrument and providing new service to meet new demands. Thie IMBN core will provide cutting edge technology such as biomimetic nanomaterial in collaboration with Brown University School of Engineering and Illumina sequencing in the Brown University BioMed Core Facilities.

The IMB core serves the aims as follows:

  1. Provide sophisticated, state-of-the-art instrumentation in translational research with emphasis on animal models and human tissue samples to different projects in the COBRE.
  2. Provide technical support and expert consultation in the molecular, cell, tissue and whole organism levels to multidisciplinary researchers including biologists, clinicians and engineers.
  3. Expand novel cutting edge techniques and expertise to support investigators for achieving specific objectives in translational research.
