Changes Due to COVID-19 and Support for Patients at the Center for Weight and Wellness

During the current COVID-19 pandemic, maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle is an essential part of continued wellness.

The dedicated staff at the Center for Weight and Wellness has produced several helpful videos to help guide and manage the real-life obstacles that people in our community may face as they continue to adapt to their new “normal.”

Due to COVID-19 preparedness and response efforts, the Center for Weight and Wellness is suspending all in-person weight management groups until further notice. Your missed weeks will be added to the end of your program.

Support for Patients

In order to support you with your weight loss program while our groups are suspended, the following services are available:

  • Telephone check-ins with Center for Weight and Wellness medical providers will be available per your program protocol, for example, weekly, or bi-weekly. Our staff will call you to schedule a call between the hours of 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Limited in-person medical visits will be available for any urgent medical concern relating to your Center for Weight and Wellness program. Your medical provider will determine if an in-person visit is needed after consulting with you on the phone. Please call the staff at 401-793-8790 to schedule a visit if you have an urgent medical concern pertaining to your weight loss program. Please review this information before visiting any Lifespan facility or outpatient practice for an appointment or procedure. 

  • In the absence of in-person groups, Center for Weight and Wellness participants will now have the ability to partake in group, online, via the Zoom platform. For those unable to participate due to technical, individual behavioral, nutrition, or exercise issues, telephone consults will be available Monday through Thursday. Please call to speak with one of our patient service representatives if you have any questions.
    • Providence patients can reach our staff on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday by calling 401-793-8790.  
    • East Greenwich patients can reach our staff on Monday and Wednesday by calling 401-606-2310.
       
  • Follow-up visits for individual weight management programs will now be conducted via a telephone call. The provider will contact you at your regularly scheduled follow-up appointment time. Please call the staff at 401-793-8790 if your scheduled appointment is no longer a convenient time to be contacted and we will be happy to reschedule.

  • These videos offer help with coping with eating and emotions during COVID-19.

Product Sales

Product sales will continue to be available. At the present time you can purchase a two-week supply. We request all product orders be called in and processed over the telephone. Please have your credit card information available.

Product sales pick-up will be available during the following business hours:

  • Providence - Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • East Greenwich - Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Car service pick-up will be offered and is encouraged. Please call ahead and let us know when you have arrived.
