At the Lifespan Lifestyle Medicine Center, we created the Healthy Weight Program – a one-of-a-kind approach that does not involve traditional restrictive dieting. Although you will be weighed, we never discuss the number. You will be free of the dieting cycle so you can enjoy food and trust your body.
Sheenagh Bodkin, MD, a board-certified obesity medicine physician, will work with you to break the cycle of dieting and help you achieve your healthy weight. Whether you need lifestyle modification, medication, or surgery, Dr. Bodkin can help.
She will treat your weight-related health issues while you gain confidence and vitality, embarking on a healthy, happy, active life.
Along with Dr. Bodkin, you’ll be assisted by an exercise physiologist and wellness coach, a registered dietitian, and cognitive-behavioral therapist. They will give you long-term encouragement and support.
Once you have achieved a healthy lifestyle, we will assess your need for additional assistance in reaching a healthy weight. Dr. Bodkin may prescribe FDA-approved medications for weight loss or help you prepare for weight-loss surgery.
What to Expect
Step 1: Attend an introduction session with Dr. Bodkin.
Meet with Dr. Sheenagh Bodkin, a board-certified obesity medicine physician. In a small group setting, Dr. Bodkin welcomes you to the program and reviews the latest evidence on why we gain weight and why it is so hard to lose weight. Introduction sessions are offered on Mondays from 5 to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8 to 9 a.m. This session is free of charge.
After this session you will follow up with an individual appointment with Dr. Bodkin. This visit establishes your overall weight management plan. You will also meet with our exercise physiologist and health coach to discuss movement, activity and exercise.
We will help arrange all of these appointments for you.
Step 2: Choose a group.
Choose one of three groups. Groups are held on the days and times below. Each session includes 30 minutes of gentle movement. Each group meets for 10 weeks on the day/time specified. The fee is $200.
- Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.
- Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.
- Friday mornings from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.
Step 3: Get long-term support.
We offer graduates the long-term support they need by meeting with others to enhance skills and share successes!
