Minimally Invasive Surgery

Facilities

The division of minimally invasive surgery is located on the Rhode Island Hospital campus.
  • The Ambulatory Surgical Center, located at 2 Dudley Street in Providence, is the site of most surgical care, which is provided by a skilled and dedicated team of nurses.
  • The Cooperative Care Center, housed in the Ambulatory Surgical Center, is a place where patients can stay postoperatively with their family during recovery from surgery. The Cooperative Care Center is also available for preoperative stays when there is a long traveling distance to the hospital.
  • Consultations with the surgical staff take place in the Medical Office Building, an extension of the Ambulatory Care and Cooperative Care centers.
  • Educational and research activities take place at the Rhode Island Hospital Research Facilities. Monthly seminars and training programs are provided for surgeons and residents in various disciplines of minimally invasive therapy. Videoconferencing, telesurgery and telepreceptoring are methods used to educate surgeons throughout the country.
