When growth of the brain and nervous system is impaired, it can affect learning ability, memory and emotion as children develop.

Research and clinical care related to neurodevelopmental disorders focus on the causes of, and treatments for, autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorder, bipolar and other mood disorders and schizophrenia.
