Salloway Research

Our Approach

Research conducted through the Norman Prince Neurosciences Institute is distinguished by world-class talent and leading-edge technologies, all highly concentrated and closely connected.

Institute physicians and scientists are members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Society for Neuroscience, the American Academy of Neurology, and the American Psychiatric Association, among others. Researchers have received major awards from the National Institute of Health, including the Javits Neuroscience Investigator Award, the highest neuroscience honor that NIH bestows. Researchers have won competitive fellowships from private foundations that include Burroughs Wellcome, Doris Duke, Guggenheim, Kavli, Klingenstein, NARSAD, and Surdna.

Institute members are consistently recognized by peers as leaders in their fields, landing in the ranks of the Best Doctors in America and serving in leadership roles in medical professional organizations. Researchers are members of leading national and international research networks, including the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative, the Simons Simplex Collection and the National Children's Study. Major companies, including Pfizer, Novartis, Roche, Eli Lilly, and Medtronic, support their research.

Partner institutions have made significant, recent investments in clinical facilities and research infrastructure, including new laboratories and next-generation equipment for brain imaging and gene sequencing. Brown University and the neuroscience institute's partner hospitals are located within a five-mile radius of one another, making it easy to share core facilities, conduct collaborative work, confer on clinical care and translate laboratory findings into new tests and treatments.
