Our medical staff includes board-certified pediatric nephrologists, a pediatric renal dietitian and a certified pediatric nurse. All our nephrologists are experienced in pediatric renal transplantation.
Director, Pediatric Nephrology and Hypertension, Hasbro Children's Hospital

M. Khurram Faizan, MD, FAAP is the director of the division of pediatric nephrology and hypertension. He has served on our staff as a pediatric nephrologist since 2005 and is an associate professor of pediatrics (clinical) at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Faizan earned bachelor’s degrees in medicine and surgery from Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan and is certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. Faizan completed his clinical fellowship in pediatric nephrology at the University of Washington and the Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle, where he received the National Kidney Foundation and American Society of Transplantation fellowship research award. He completed his pediatric residency at Pennsylvania State University in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where he also served as chief resident. He is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, the American Society of Nephrology and the International Pediatric Nephrology Association.

His research interests include the relationship between blood pressure, childhood obesity and microalbuminuria, and the role of novel therapies for the treatment of focal sclerosis and minimal change disease.

Pediatric Nephrologist, Hasbro Children's Hospital

Robin Kremsdorf, MD received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. She completed her residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio and a nephrology fellowship at Seattle Children’s Hospital in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Kremsdorf is an assistant professor of pediatrics (clinical) at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology and the American Society of Nephrology.

Deb Marzetta, RN
Pediatric Renal Nurse, Hasbro Children's Hospital

Deb Marzetta, RN is a pediatric renal nurse in the division of nephrology and hypertension at Hasbro Children's Hospital.  She has 27 years of inpatient experience at Hasbro Children's Hospital. Marzetta attended Rhode Island College and the Community College of Rhode Island.  She sees patients at the ambulatory blood pressure monitoring clinic and helps coordinate care for families and navigate the health care system.

Julia O’Brien, RD
Pediatric Renal Dietitian, Hasbro Children's Hospital

Julia O’Brien, RD is a pediatric clinical dietitian and certified lactation counselor at Hasbro Children’s Hospital specializing in the treatment of infants, toddlers and the ketogenic diet. She received her bachelor of science degree in nutrition in 2008 from the University of Connecticut and completed her dietetic internship at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Julia completed a pediatric nutrition fellowship in 2012 at Riley Children’s Hospital through Indiana University and Purdue University in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Before joining the team at Hasbro, Julia worked in the neonatal intensive care unit and newborn follow-up program at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Barbara Leclerc
Office Assistant

Barbara Leclerc is the primary contact for the division of pediatric nephrology and hypertension. In addition to managing the division’s daily business operation, she schedules patients for the pediatric nephrology and hypertension clinic. Leclerc also runs the pediatric ambulatory blood pressure monitoring program at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
