General Reconstructive Plastic Surgery

Plastic Surgery at Wayland Square, Providence, RI

Our surgeons have broad expertise in correcting defects created after cancer surgery, or when accidents and trauma disrupt normal appearance.

Deformities of the face, breast, trunk or extremities can be skillfully reconstructed using the latest and most advanced techniques. These include:

  • Flaps and grafts
  • Microsurgical transfer of vascularized tissue (using a microscope to connect tiny blood vessels in a different part of the body to the transplanted tissue)
  • Skillful use of prosthetic materials, including saline and silicone breast implants for mastectomy patients, and tissue expanders to increase the amount of skin and soft tissue available for reconstruction
  • State-of-the-art wound healing technologies, including negative pressure, hyperbaric oxygen and skin substitutes
  • Abdominal wall reconstruction after failed hernia repairs

We take a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to each case, working with colleagues throughout the hospital, from oncologists to psychologists, to best serve each patient’s individual needs.
