The Joint Commission once again recognized the Total Joint Center at The Miriam Hospital with its Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement. The Total Joint Center is the region's highest-volume joint replacement program, with clinical and quality outcomes that rank among the nation's best. It is the only program in the region to earn this high distinction.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island named The Miriam hospital a Blue Distinction Centers for knee and hip replacement. Hospitals are designated as Blue Distinction Centers in recognition of their expertise in delivering quality care and improved patient safety, based on objective clinical measures that result in better outcomes for patients.
The Total Joint Center at The Miriam Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement. The Total Joint Center is the region’s highest volume joint replacement program with clinical and quality outcomes that rank among the best in the nation. “This advanced Joint Commission certification is recognition of The Miriam Hospital’s team approach to ensuring patients have the best possible outcome. This is achieved by providing safe, state-of-the-art care, starting prior to surgery and through the rehabilitative process,” said John A. Froehlich, MD, program director of the Total Joint Center.

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) has named The Miriam Hospital as a Blue Distinction Center in Knee and Hip Replacement. The Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care program is a national designation awarded to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality specialty care.

Sampson, president of The Miriam Hospital. “The success of our program is a direct reflection of the tremendous dedication and expertise of our surgeons, doctors, nurses, physical therapists and staff who go above and beyond every day to provide exemplary orthopedic care, from consultation to surgery and all the way through to recovery.”
