Lifespan Community Health Institute will provide a special nutritional education and cooking demonstration at Food on the Move on the first three Tuesdays in April, at the BVCAP Community Center in Pawtucket. The program, hosted by the Rhode Island Public Health Institute, is a mobile market that brings fresh fruits and vegetables directly into neighborhoods, at a discount, year round.
Free healthy samples, recipe cards, and nutritional information will be supplied.
Food on the Move will provide a 50 percent discount to SNAP/EBT card members to buy fruit and vegetables. They will double the value of SNAP benefits at the mobile market. For every $1 spent on fruits and vegetables, another $1 gift card will be given to to customers to buy more. Cash, credit/debit, and SNAP/EBT will be accepted.
