Incarceration as a Social Determinant of Health

Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 12:00p.m. - 1:00p.m.

Approximately one in three Rhode Islanders has a criminal record. Research indicates that a criminal record worsens health outcomes, creates barriers to obtaining safe housing and employment, disrupts healthy family relationships, and places additional financial burdens on people who are likely to have limited or no income. Virtually join the Lifespan Community Health Institute from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10 to understand why incarceration is a social determinant of health.

Speaker

Zachary Gross, portfolio manager at the Center for Health and Justice Transformation, and Anthony Thigpen. CCHW, program coordinator at Connect for Health, will lead the presentation.
