Obesity is linked to higher mortality rates and chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer. The most common intervention for weight loss is restrictive dieting. However, studies show that repeated dieting attempts may be harmful to physical and mental health; and most individuals regain the weight.
