Pediatric Point-of-Care Ultrasound Workshop

Category:
Medical Imaging

Lifespan Medical Simulation Center will present a one-day workshop for the rapidly emerging pediatric point-of-care ultrasound technology on Saturday, November 2.

Summary

This is a one-day course designed to provide an introduction to point-of-care ultrasound for health care providers in the fields of pediatric emergency medicine, pediatric critical care, neonatology, pediatric hospitalists and general pediatrics.

Point-of-care ultrasound is a rapidly emerging technology that allows the direct integration of diagnostic imaging by the provider at a patient's bedside in order to provide real-time information to streamline patient care. Topics to be covered in the workshop include Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma and Free Fluid (FAST/FAFF), focused cardiac ultrasound, lung ultrasound and focused ultrasound for undifferentiated shock. Common ultrasound-guided bedside procedures will also be covered.

Participants in this course will have access to a variety of ultrasound machines designed specifically for point-of-care ultrasound, including some newer hand-held ultrasound devices.
