Speech on Lyme Disease by Author Pam Weintraub

Category:
Infectious Diseases

A longtime science journalist who was moved to write a book about Lyme disease based on her own family’s struggles with the illness will be a guest speaker at The Miriam Hospital on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Pam Weintraub, executive editor of Discover magazine, will discuss her book, Cure Unknown: Inside the Lyme Epidemic. The book is partly a retelling of her family ordeal and partly an investigation into the history and treatment of Lyme.

According to the book jacket, “When Pamela Weintraub, a science journalist, learned that her oldest son tested positive for Lyme disease, she thought she had found an answer to the symptoms that had been plaguing her family for years ― but her nightmare had just begun. Almost everything about Lyme disease turned out to be deeply controversial, from the microbe causing the infection, to the length and type of treatment and the kind of practitioner needed.”

This is a free event, but seating is limited. Reservations are required. The RSVP, contact Vickie.Scott@Lifespan.org by Friday, April 20. For more information please see the event flyer.
