Your Life, Your Canvas Art Therapy Group for Teens

Category:
Mental Health and Behavioral Health, Pediatric Medicine

An open studio art therapy group for teens living with symptoms related to anxiety and/or mood disorders.

Your Life, Your Canvas is a group that utilizes expressive arts techniques to empower participants while bringing awareness and insight to life experiences. Art therapy is an effective form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of communication. Participants are exposed to a variety of techniques and mediums while developing symptom management skills that can translate to successes in all areas of life.

This is not a fine arts program or an arts and crafts group. One doesn’t need to be an “artist” to participate. Simply come equipped with curiosity and creativity. The creative process can, among many things, heighten self-expression, reduce stress, and increase self-esteem. Participants will be challenged in-group to take on new, meaningful experiences. They will also be supported in the sustainment of independent art making practices.

Eligible teens are invited to participate in a 10-week group session that harnesses the power of artmaking to promote health and overall wellbeing. Groups are filled based on age, clinical presentation, and best fit with other group members. We will provide all materials needed; fee is $25.
