“We may not be able to prepare the future for our children, but we can at least prepare our children for the future.”

-- President Franklin D. Roosevelt

Children are the future and that’s why parenting matters.

We also know that parenting isn’t easy, and sometimes parents can use a little help. That’s why Bradley Hospital and Lifespan Community Health Institute will present its 31st Parenting Matters conference virtually, via Zoom, on Saturday, March 26.

This half-day event offers parents, childcare providers, social workers and teachers a unique opportunity to learn from top child development and behavior professionals in a casual setting.

The conference will feature keynote speaker Emily Oster, PhD, who will present "The Family Firm: A Data-Driven Guide to Better Decision Making in the Early School Years." Oster will talk about her book, The Family Firm, which approaches parental decision-making using structured tools and data analysis.

Attendees can also participate in their choice of 3 breakout sessions. Worried about a child's use of technology? We'll review emerging evidence of the mechanisms linking screen time with youth well-being. Want to explore the world of gender diversity? We'll share common principles that guide gender affirming mental and mental health care, along with resources available for gender diverse youth and their families in the state of Rhode Island. We'll also have information about anxiety in kids, including an overview of diagnostic criteria for common pediatric anxiety and OC-spectrum disorders and how these disorders commonly present in pediatric populations.

Early learning professional credits will be awarded.

Registration is available now. So please join us, because parenting really does matter.
