Annual Dunkin’ Donuts Iced Coffee Day Initiative Raises More Than $143,000 for Hasbro Children’s Hospital
On August 2, local Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees and Hasbro Children’s Hospital leadership celebrated the results of this year’s Iced Coffee Day during a special on-field ceremony at McCoy Stadium prior to a Pawtucket Red Sox game. The annual local initiative to support Hasbro Children’s Hospital raised more than $143,000 for the hospital in 2017.
In what has become one of the largest community fundraising efforts to benefit Hasbro Children’s Hospital, more than 250 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants across Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts hosted Iced Coffee Day on May 24. Franchisees donated $1 to the area’s leading pediatric hospital for every iced coffee sold at participating restaurants that day.
Since its inception in 2010, the annual fundraiser has raised more than $1 million to support Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
“I speak for all of my fellow Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees when I say Iced Coffee Day is our favorite holiday of the year, and I want to thank our store managers, employees, community partner, and — most of all — our customers for helping to make this year’s event a great success,” said Dunkin’ Donuts franchise owner Joe Prazeres. “Hasbro Children’s Hospital is an incredible organization, and we are so proud to support the extraordinary difference the hospital makes in the local community.”
“On behalf of everyone at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and the tens of thousands of children and families who depend on us for their care, I want to offer our deep gratitude to our friends from Dunkin’ Donuts and their loyal customers for their unwavering support of our hospital,” said Margaret M. Van Bree, MPH, DrPH, president of Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital, the pediatric division of Rhode Island Hospital. “That more than 140,000 cups of iced coffee were sold in a single day is remarkable; that each and every one of them resulted in a donation to our hospital is amazing!”
