Golf Invitational Raises $293,789 for Hasbro Children’s Hospital
Periods of driving rain and cooler than normal temperatures couldn’t dampen the festivities or enthusiasm when nearly 140 golfers descended on Rhode Island Country Club for the 2017 Hasbro Children’s Hospital Invitational on Monday, July 24.
Co-chaired by longtime supporters Lawrence A. Aubin, Sr., chairman of the Lifespan Board of Directors, and James L. Carr, Jr., the annual event raised $293,789 to support of Hasbro Children’s Hospital programs and research efforts with the greatest funding need. Of the total raised, $30,000 will benefit the hospital’s Lawrence A. Aubin, Sr. Child Protection Center, which cares for some of the most vulnerable children in our region who suffer from abuse and neglect. It is the only program of its kind in Rhode Island.
The day featured a sold-out slate of 35 foursomes eager to play the prestigious course, which has hosted the CVS/Caremark Charity Classic for the last fifteen years, along with four USGA Championships. After playing an abbreviated course due to the weather, golfers made their way to the Clubhouse for a special reception, followed by awards, dinner, and a live auction. The live auction generated more than $16,000, with friendly bidding surrounding packages of Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots experiences.
Since its inception in 1996, the Hasbro Children’s Hospital Invitational has raised more than $4.7 million for the area’s leading pediatric hospital.
The 2017 Hasbro Children’s Hospital Invitational was made possible thanks to presenting sponsors Aubin Corporation and H.
