Men’s Health Center and pharmacy are open in new Corliss Building

June 18, 2020

Lifespan’s newest medical facility – the Lifespan Ambulatory Care Clinic at 180 Corliss St. – is open to the public for services including The Men’s Health Center, ,  and a Lifespan Pharmacy.

Lifespan’s Men’s Health Center is a first-of-its-kind specialty center dedicated to men’s sexual, reproductive and urologic health, with experts in internal medicine, urology, psychology and physical therapy.

The Lifespan Pharmacy at Corliss Street is located on the ground level adjacent to covered parking and is open to the public.  Lifespan Pharmacy locations at The Miriam Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital are currently serving only those allowed into the hospital in accordance with current coronavirus restrictions.

The Lifespan Ambulatory Care Center, which is affiliated with The Miriam Hospital, became fully occupied earlier this year following a dedication ceremony last fall.

“The opening of this building means that two vital and outstanding Miriam programs – Men's Health and Immunology – can continue to grow and serve patients in a modern and easily accessible location. Additionally, under the same roof, patients can conveniently access pharmacy and laboratory services as well as primary care.” said Arthur J. Sampson, president of The Miriam Hospital.

In addition to the Men’s Health Center, and the Lifespan Pharmacy, other services at the Lifespan Ambulatory Care Center on Corliss include:

•    The Infectious Diseases and Immunology Center. Formerly located on North Main Street, the center includes clinics for HIV/AIDS screening and treatment, viral hepatitis, Lyme and tick-borne diseases, and other communicable diseases.
•    Anchor Medical Associates. Formerly located 1 Hoppin St., Providence, this relocated Anchor practice offers primary care services provided by a staff of six physicians and three physician assistants, and a support staff of about 20.
•    Lifespan Laboratory. These conveniently located labs perform a variety of tests for patients and deliver faster results thanks to a centralized, automated system.

The new building, conveniently located near major highways, enhances a growing medical hub for Lifespan and The Miriam Hospital in the Mount Hope section of Providence. Nearby are buildings housing Lifespan Home Medical and the Lifespan Recovery Center, which opened in 2017 to provide a comprehensive array of services for opioid and other drug addictions. Just around the corner on West River Street is a renovated mill complex that is the location of the Women’s Medicine Collaborative, Lifespan Physician Group, Lifespan Medical Imaging, the Center for Weight and Wellness, and other Lifespan programs.
