Newport, RI - Newport Hospital’s Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, Orla Brandos, DNP, MBA, MSN, CPHQ, NEA-BC has been appointed as the 2023-2024 Board President for the Organization of Nurse Leaders (ONL). Orla has been a nurse for 32 years and has been the Chief Nursing Officer for the Newport Hospital for the last 8 years.

ONL serves over 1000 nurse leaders from across five New England states and provides vital workshops and educational resources for its members. On a larger scale ONL supports nurse leaders in their advocacy efforts at the organizational, state, regional and local level. “Orla Brandos has long been an avid supporter of our organization and devoted champion for nurses. As ONL President, I know she will bring to bear her extensive expertise, insightful perspective, and profound passion for nursing to further our mission to advance a culture of health through nursing leadership and professional governance. I am excited for what the future holds for ONL under Orla's leadership and am grateful for her willingness to serve in this capacity” stated ONL’s Chief Executive Officer, Amanda Oberlies, PhD, MBA, RN, FAAN.

ONL’s strategic priorities for the upcoming year are to stabilize and grow healthcare workforce through nurse leadership and influence, by advancing policy and practice throughout New England, developing inclusive nurse leadership, and leveraging strategic partnerships and innovation in nursing. “ONL has been pivotal to my nursing leadership growth and development. Having the opportunity to collaborate with nurse leaders from across New England with varying levels of healthcare leadership experience has provided me with the knowledge, skillset, and resiliency to be the leader I am today.
