Orthopedic surgeon Rolf Langeland, M.D., joins Lifespan Physician Group
Lifespan Physician Group (LPG) announced that Rolf Langeland, M.D., has joined Newport Orthopedics, a Lifespan Physician Group practice that is part of the Orthopedics Institute at Rhode Island, The Miriam and Newport hospitals. He will be providing a wide range of orthopedic surgical services at Newport Hospital as a member of the Newport Hospital medical staff. He is currently accepting new patients.
Langeland received his medical degree and orthopedic surgical training from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He continued his subspecialty training in sports medicine and joint replacement fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. Prior to joining Newport Orthopedics, he practiced for 20 years with Orthopaedic Specialty Group in southern Connecticut, where he specialized in sports medicine and reconstructive joint and trauma surgery.
“Dr. Langeland brings decades of surgical experience and specialized skills in shoulder and other joint replacement, as well as sports medicine, to the Newport community,” said Crista F. Durand, president of Newport Hospital. “I’m so pleased to welcome him to Newport Hospital.”
Langeland has particular expertise in arthroscopic (minimally invasive) joint restoration of the upper and lower extremities, in addition to trauma reconstruction and reconstructive joint replacement.
“What I enjoy most is keeping people active and healthy,” said Langeland. “I was drawn to orthopedic surgery because of my love of sports and an active lifestyle, and I have dedicated my professional career to restoring athletes and non-athletes to their highest level of physical activity and fitness.”
The orthopedic surgeons at Newport Orthopedics provide diagnostic, medical and surgical treatment for injuries and disorders of the joints and upper and lower limbs. The broad array of services includes:
