Program promotes health, wellness for children and families of Newport County

Do you have an idea about how to engage the children of Newport County in healthy athletic activity, or about creating programs that foster good health habits, build confidence, and impart a sense of achievement? If you do, then apply for a grant from the Frederick Henry Prince Memorial Fund at Newport Hospital to become “Powered by Prince.”

This community grant program is for residents and organizations in Newport County that are focused on building a healthier community for our children. Last year, the fund awarded $110,334 to several local entities for community programs ranging from biking, basketball, tennis, adaptive sailing, and rugby to hiking, camp scholarships, and more. To date, more than $500,000 has been awarded to Newport County individuals and organizations.

The grant is open for applications from Jan. 1 through Jan. 31, 2019. Applications will be reviewed in February and funding awards will be announced in March 2019.

All applicants are encouraged to attend one of two Powered by Prince FHP grants workshops on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018:
