Incredible Years Series
Incredible Years is an empirically supported set of group-based prevention and treatment programs that are delivered in schools (for example, Head Start, daycare, and kindergarten through grade 3), mental health centers, pediatric practices, and other community settings serving high-risk children and families.
Under the direction of Stephanie Shepard Umaschi, PhD, the Center for Evidence Based Practice (CEBP) is available for Incredible Years training, coaching, and program implementation for the range of programs described below.

Incredible Years Programs
The Incredible Years Series includes the following programs that are supported by CEBP:
Teacher Classroom Behavior Management Program: an interactive training series for professionals working with children ages preschool through grade 3 in childcare and educational settings (for example, classroom teachers, teacher assistants, guidance counselors, mental health workers, social workers and others).
Incredible Beginnings Program: an interactive training series for professionals working with children 1 to 5 years old in childcare and educational settings to provide an environment that supports children’s optimal early development.
Social Skills and Problem Solving for Children
Child Dinosaur Treatment Program: a treatment program for children ages preschool through grade 3 with identified social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The program is delivered by counselors or therapists with a graduate degree in social work, psychology, education, nursing, or counseling as a pull-out program in schools and/or in conjunction with Incredible Years family programs.
Fammily Training Programs: skill-based behavioral preventive or treatment groups for families with babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children who are at risk for or who have early onset conduct problems. Group leaders are social workers, counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other mental health workers, as well as nurses or teachers with training in child development, behavior management, and group process.
The training and support program the CEBP provides involves several components from which agencies or individuals who are interested in adopting these programs can choose. Program staff work with interested agencies to build their organizational readiness to adopt, deliver, and sustain Incredible Years implementation.
Once agencies have demonstrated readiness and program leaders have been identified, authorized Incredible Years training is provided by a certified mentor (Stephanie Shepard Umaschi, PhD) or trainer from the Incredible Years® office in Seattle, Washington.
Training booster sessions and both individual and group Incredible Years consultation/coaching are also available to providers and administrators. The CEBP can monitor Incredible Years implementation fidelity and determine eligibility to apply for certification, which is strongly recommended for all leaders and required for conducting Incredible Years research and publishing results.
Stephanie Shepard Umaschi, PhD, of the CEBP is a nationally certified Incredible Years® leader and trainer who oversees all Incredible Years® training in Rhode Island. She and her staff of trained psychologists at the CEBP have supported Incredible Years® implementation across the state for more than 10 years.
