Alyssa Norris, PhD, is a psychologist at The Miriam Hospital. Dr. Norris earned her doctor of philosophy degree in clinical psychology from Washington State University.
She completed her clinical psychology internship and post-doctoral fellowship in child/adolescent biobehavioral HIV research at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Dr. Norris' research interests are related to violence and victimization, as well as alcohol and other substance use. Broadly, she is focused on the health of individuals who are more likely to be victimized and targeted with violence, specifically sexual and gender minorities (SGM) as well as young women during periods of transition like the first year of college. At this time, her research primarily focuses on building effective prevention and intervention programming to support SGM individuals to reduce health disparities rooted in the impact of the victimization they experience, such as heavy alcohol use.
