G. Alan Kurose, MD is president of Coastal Medical and senior vice president for primary care and population health for Lifespan.
Dr. Kurose was one of the founders of Coastal Medical in 1995 and practiced primary care internal medicine for 20 years. He has been president of Coastal Medical since 2008 and has been a driving force behind Coastal Medical’s transition to accountable care.
Dr. Kurose continually explores new strategies to deliver high quality, cost-effective, and patient centered care. He serves on the board of the Healthcare Executive Advisory Council for UnitedHealthGroup and is a board director of the Rhode Island Foundation, the Care Transformation Collaborative of RI, and Healthcentric Advisors. In his role as senior vice president at Lifespan, Dr. Kurose shapes and advances the overall primary care and population health strategy for the system.
Dr. Kurose is a graduate of the Washington University School of Medicine, the Brown University Internal Medicine Residency Training Program, and the Yale MBA for Executives Program. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Health Services, Policy & Practice at Brown University.
