“Find a Doctor” is operated by Lifespan and includes all physicians who are on the medical staffs of Lifespan-affiliated hospitals, without any charge to them. Selection is based upon your needs and preferences. Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Lifespan or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Lifespan’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Lifespan hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Lifespan. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Lifespan or its affiliates from any listed physician. Users are free to select their physician of choice from among all Lifespan-affiliated medical staff physicians.
David W. Sobel, MD
David Watson Sobel, MD, is a board-certified urologist at the Minimally Invasive Urology Institute and Kidney Stone Center at The Miriam Hospital. He is also an assistant professor of surgical urology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. His clinical interests include surgical management of complex kidney stone disease, robotic surgery for benign and malignant urologic conditions, and the urologic applications to aerospace medicine.
Dr. Sobel earned his undergraduate degree from Brown University. He received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston. He completed his general surgery internship and urology residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center, Burlington. Dr. Sobel completed his fellowship in endourology and minimally invasive urologic surgery at the Minimally Invasive Urology Institute at The Miriam Hospital and Brown University.
Dr. Sobel is a member of the Federal Rhode Island One Disaster Medical Assistance Team (RI-1 DMAT) under the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS/ASPR/NDMS) and founder of the Consortium for Ureteral Stent Pain (CUSP) and the Pan-New England Stone Society (PNESS). His research interests include opioid reduction and enhanced recovery pathways in urologic surgery and outcomes research regarding the reduction of ionizing radiation in kidney stone surveillance.
