Scott Schmidt, MD is section director of hand surgery in the department of plastic surgery at Rhode Island Hospital and section chief of plastic surgery at Providence Veteran’s Hospital. He is board certified in plastic surgery and has a certificate of added qualification in hand and upper extremity surgery. He is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Schmidt has a special interest in peripheral nerve injury, hand trauma, and scar and burn injuries, and is actively involved in clinical research. He has volunteered for several pediatric burn mission trips.

Schmidt received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington. He completed his residency at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, and a combined hand surgery fellowship at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT.
