Josiah D. Rich, MD, MPH is an award-winning physician, researcher, and infectious disease and addiction specialist with nearly 30 years of experience at Lifespan’s Infectious Diseases and Immunology Center at The Miriam Hospital. He is also the co-founder and senior medical advisor at the Center for Health and Justice Transformation (formerly known as the Center for Prisoner Health and Human Rights) and a professor of medicine and epidemiology at Brown University.

He has testified in the US Congress, presented at conferences across the country, and authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications in academic journals. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts and a master’s degree in public health from Harvard University. He completed his internship and residency at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals.
