Investing in People

We believe it is important to provide job opportunities for residents of the neighborhoods surrounding our hospitals. Since 1998, we have increased the number of racial and ethnic minorities in our workforce by 161 percent. Lifespan’s commitment to diversity and inclusion is deeply rooted in our guiding values of respect and fairness.

    Youth Development

Our youth development program began in the early 1970’s. In the last nine years, we have provided 566 youth—the vast majority of whom are students in the Providence public school system—with paid summer employment.

    Results to Date

    • We have hired 34 percent of our summer youth into permanent jobs, while many others have gone on to pursue post-secondary education.
