Kathleen Guarino, CPNP, received her undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts and went on to work as a pediatric nurse at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. After working for 10 years as a registered nurse, she went on to complete her master’s degree in pediatric primary care at Simmons College in Boston.
In 1999, the nurse practitioner joined the division of pediatric cardiothoracic surgery at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. She joined the pediatric cardiology division in 2003, and is a clinical teaching associate at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Her clinical interests include all aspects of pediatric cardiology. Educating patients with chronic conditions and their families is a special interest. She also enjoys helping patients and families prepare for eventual transition to adult providers.
