Shaquanna Brown, PhD, is a member of the faculty of the Center for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine (CBPM) at The Miriam Hospital, and on the COBRE Center for Stress, Trauma, and Resilience (STAR). She joined the CBPM previously as an NIH postdoctoral research fellow as part of the Childhood Stress, Trauma, & Resilience (STAR) T32 training program, an intensive research fellowship based at CBPM and Brown Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior.
Dr. Brown’s program of research focuses on mechanisms of risk and resilience in the context of childhood adversity (e.g., child maltreatment), with a particular interest in adolescent risk behaviors such as substance use. She earned her doctorate in clinical child psychology at the University of Kansas and completed her clinical psychology internship at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
